Solar ready hot water tank !
This is a Scottish-made hot water tank from McDonald Engineers of Glenrothes.
It is a Clearskies 140 L solar-ready tank, vented (for use with a header tank). It has 2 internal coil type heat exchangers:
The boiler coil is rated for 3.5 bar maximum working pressure; the coil heats 10 litres secondary water; it is 0.48 square metres with a fluid content of 3.4 litres.
The solar coil is rated for 6 bar maximum working pressure; it heats 140 litres secondary water; it is 1.2 square metres with a fluid content of 1.3 litres.
The tank also has a Heatrae Pullin 27” gold dot immersion heater (2.8kw at 230V – 3kw at 240V). It is coated in solid foam insulation.
It was used for approximately 3 years without ever connecting to solar as our roof is not suitable for solar thermal, so hopefully someone will be able to make use of it.
The nearest current equivalent (see http://www.contemporaryenergy.co.uk/SHW_products.htm) retails at over 450.
180 or near offer.
